Fundraise for us

We are so grateful to, and proud of, our army of fundraisers who work tirelessly to raise money to support the work of Sheffield Hospitals Charity.

The following pages should provide all the help and advice you need if you want to join our army of dedicated fundraisers, but do contact us if we can help or advise in any way. And of course, don’t forget to tell us what you are doing so we can promote your activity and perhaps encourage other people to get fundraising.

To get started, please download 'Your guide to fundraising' and our Registration form.

Need inspiration?

Have a look at our latest news to see the kinds of activities our current fundraisers are organising or taking part in to raise money for healthcare in Sheffield with Sheffield Hospitals Charity.

You can also check out our A-Z of fundraising ideas to inspire you and of course don’t hesitate to phone or e-mail to chat to one of our fundraising team who can also help.

Individual fundraising

Why not get fit and attempt a sponsored walk or run? You could even try something more daring like a parachute jump! If you prefer to keep your feet on the ground, why not organise your own event, such as a traditional bring and buy sale or a glitzy ball?

For those of you preferring a less physical way to support us you can sell or buy items on eBay to raise money for us or visit your regular online shops through easyfundraising. Visit our page on donating whilst you shop here to discover ways where helping yourself can, in turn, help support Sheffield Hospitals Charity.

Take a look at 'Your guide to fundraising', then fill out our Registration form, to get started.

Group fundraising

Fundraising groups organise collections and events in their local area and help raise awareness of the charity. Why not get together with your friends, family or colleagues and form a group of your own?

Hold your own event

Putting on any event may seem daunting, but your event can be on any scale you choose, from a small tea party with friends to a masked ball. Look at our A-Z of fundraising ideas or talk to one of our fundraising team for ideas, and then visit our event section to find out how you can easily go about staging and publicising your very own event.

Fundraising at work

There are a number of ways that companies can get involved. Staff fundraising is fun, but can also be an effective way of building teams and staff morale. Plus, some organisations will often match the amount of money raised, making your efforts go even further. Why not:

  • Have a dress down day
  • Run a raffle selling tickets to your work colleagues (for details on running a raffle or lottery for Sheffield Hospitals Charity please download our Lottery & Raffle Guide and Registration Form)
  • Nominate us as a partner charity
  • Get sporty - organise a tournament/golf day/sponsored run
  • Take part in Payroll Giving, donations of your choice are made directly from your gross salary and with immediate tax relief

Visit our corporate support pages for more information.

Fundraising at school

Your school or children’s group could support us by holding its very own dress down day or a sponsored sports day. There are hundreds of ways you can support Sheffield Hospitals Charity by fundraising at school, the only limit is your imagination!

Get involved and see how enthusiastic pupils can be when they are raising money to help others. Visit our schools page to find out more.

Fundraising in celebration

Weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, retirements and Christmas are times for celebrating and giving gifts! Whatever the occasion, here are several ways you can use your celebration to help Sheffield Hospitals Charity.

  • Shop online - raise money simply by making your purchases via one of our partner organisations
  • Donation cards/envelopes - include donation cards with your wedding invitations and ask your guests to make a donation to Sheffield Hospitals Charity instead of buying you gifts or as part of your gift list
  • Online celebration page - you and your friends and family can make direct donations to the charity and leave messages for loved ones through our online message book

Fundraising in tribute

Fundraising in memory of a loved one can help to bring consolation at a time of grief. When people lose a loved one, they often feel they would like to do something special to remember them and celebrate the life they lived.

There are many ways that family, friends and colleagues can choose to mark the life of a loved one:

  • Request donations in lieu of flowers at a funeral
  • Make a gift to the charity on special days
  • Do a sponsored activity or hold a tribute event

Visit our give in memory or celebration page to find out more.

Set up your online sponsorship page quickly and easily with Just Giving. Your friends and family can donate to your page by credit or debit card from anywhere in the world through the secure online system.

Once you’ve created your page, e-mail the link to everyone you know. A personalised thank you e-mail will be sent to everyone who donates on your site.

Gift Aid

We can also reclaim Gift Aid on UK donations. That means for every £1 you raise, we will be able to claim an extra 25p at no extra cost to you or your sponsors. Just make sure that on every sponsorship form your supporters use (including your JustGiving page) they give their name and address, including postcode, and tick the Gift Aid box.
