We're urging the people of Sheffield to ‘raise a cuppa’ and celebrate the NHS birthday in July. TV’s Dr Ranj Singh and Casualty star Charles Venn were joined by NHS staff at St George’s Hospital in London to celebrate the launch of the NHS Big Tea campaign last week.

Thousands of tea parties are set to take place across the country as the nation comes together to mark the birthday of the NHS and raise money for NHS charities.

Now we want everyone who loves the NHS to get behind the campaign and host their own tea party with friends, family and colleagues to support their local hospitals.

We help patients being treated for almost every condition across all our hospital sites.

“Whether it’s a traditional builders or a fruity rooibos, we want everyone to dust off the old china, rally their friends, family and colleagues, and come together to raise a cuppa!”

With the generous support and hard work of donors and fundraisers, we're able to invest over £2 million a year in state of the art equipment, pioneering research, patient and family support, buildings and people. We strive to provide a level of patient care beyond that which NHS funding alone can deliver.

The funds raised by NHS Big Tea will help to make life better for patients and their families at the: Royal Hallamshire and Northern General hospitals, Charles Clifford Dental Hospital, Weston Park Cancer Hospital and Jessop Wing Maternity Hospital.

Our Executive Director David Reynolds, said: “The NHS plays a massive role in all our lives in some way or another, whether it’s you, family or close friends – the NHS has helped millions of people across the country for 71 years now.

"Our health service is desired by so many across the globe and people envy our NHS staff who provide outstanding care for patients everyday – they truly are extraordinary people.

“I’m delighted to raise a cuppa on behalf of the NHS Big Tea – it’s the perfect opportunity for us all to celebrate our incredible health service and say thanks.

“By hosting a tea party you will help to make a difference to so many patients’ lives from new born babies to the elderly, and show your support for the incredible work of your local NHS staff.”

We help patients being treated for almost every condition across all our hospital sites.

The NHS Big Tea provides a chance for people up and down the country to come together and toast the NHS. Everyone is encouraged to host their own tea party, invite their friends, family and colleagues, and support the vital work of NHS charities.

The campaign is being led by NHS Charities Together, which is the national association for NHS charities.

Ellie Orton, CEO of NHS Charities Together, said:

“NHS charities give £1 million every day to support the NHS, playing an important role in funding major redevelopments, research and medical equipment.

“As well as mobilising volunteers and brightening wards and waiting areas with beautiful art, they also help to build links between our hospitals and our communities – giving everyone the chance to give back to the NHS.

“Whether it’s a traditional builders or a fruity rooibos, we want everyone to dust off the old china, rally their friends, family and colleagues, and come together to raise a cuppa!”
