Your support helps to fund to Volunteer Service Team at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals.

The team coordinate hundreds of volunteers who help patients, visitors and staff in our local hospitals, making the hospital experience that little bit easier and welcoming for the people of Sheffield.

By donating to support the Volunteer Service, you'll be helping to make sure that this vital service can continue to help thousands of patients, visitors and NHS staff in Sheffield every year.

Currently there are over 514 registered volunteers from many different walks of life, reflecting the diversity of the Sheffield region.

Volunteers have continued to support your local hospitals throughout the COVID-19 pandemic in various roles, including:

  • Pharmacy volunteers that ensure medications are delivered in a timely manner to patients on wards;
  • Welcomer volunteers that greet nervous patients, reassuring them and helping to promote COVID safety measures;
  • Hospital radio volunteers;
  • 'Clothing for Patients' volunteers that continue to make sure donated clothing gets to patients who need it;
  • Volunteer Marshalls at the Sheffield Arena have supported both blood testing and ophthalmology services;
  • Over 140 volunteers have been an integral part of the COVID-19 vaccination programme, both at the Northern General Hospital and at Sheffield Arena
