On 30th June 2022 City Taxis proudly present the inaugural Thank You NHS Gala Ball in partnership with Sheffield Hospitals Charity at the Mercure Sheffield St Paul’s Hotel.

This event allows us to say the most heartfelt thank you to our Sheffield NHS staff and during the evening, we are honoured to present five awards recognising the commitment, efforts and resilience of individuals and teams working across Sheffield Teaching Hospitals.

Award categories are below and nominations are open to staff and members of the public.

NHS Team of the Year

This award recognises a team that has made a significant difference over the last 2 years, whilst facing considerable challenges. A team that has gone above and beyond to make a difference to patients and their families or staff, working together to achieve the very best outcome.

City Taxis Covid 19 Hero

The pandemic created unprecedented challenges for staff and patients alike. Our NHS staff have risen to the challenge, working hard to ensure the best care possible for patients throughout the pandemic. This award is for any standout individual who met these challenges head-on with resilience, innovation and even creativity to ensure the best treatment and care of patients and or support to their colleagues.

Volunteer of the Year

Volunteers are vital and valued members of STH. This award celebrates one of our volunteers that has gone the extra mile. Nominations can be submitted by both patients and staff and can be for any of our wonderful volunteers

City Taxis NHS Shining Star

This award goes to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to patient care. Someone who has shown dedication often above and beyond the call of duty and a commitment to improving the lives of patients and or staff at our hospitals

Lifetime Achievement Award

This award seeks to honour an individual who has worked within Sheffield Teaching Hospitals for 30 years or more. An allied health professional or individual who has given their life to the NHS making it a better place for patients and or a better place to work for colleagues. This award is also open to any of the former NHS workers who came out of retirement to tackle the Coronavirus outbreak. They may have led to improvements in care or working conditions within challenging circumstances or have simply and consistently brightened patients' days across their many years of service.

When nominating you must have the full name of the award nominee, detail of hospital/community services, and name of the ward/department. You must be willing to give a voice recording or be briefly filmed explaining why you have nominated the individual or team. Our charity and partner panel will select the winning recipient/s for each award. The panel decision is final. Winning recipients will be invited to receive their award in person at the Thank You NHS Gala Ball and will be a guest of City Taxis and Sheffield Hospitals Charity on Thursday 30th June 2022. Each recipient will receive two complimentary tickets, one for themselves and one for an NHS colleague of their choice. For the NHS Team of the Year award, we will require two people to represent the winning team in the evening. All award recipients must be available to attend the event in person with their chosen NHS guests. Recipients agree to the use of photographs, videos and comments for social media and PR purposes. Nominations will close on Sunday 22nd May 2022. Entries after this date will not be progressed.
