Sheffield Hospitals Charity have been chosen as the Captains’ Charity for 2024 at the Hallamshire Golf Club.

Hallamshire Golf Club is known for being one of the best courses in Yorkshire. Matt Fitzpatrick honed his skills here and the course has amazing views over the Peak District.

Gentleman’s Captain this year is Phil Rodrigo and Lady Captain is Jayne Conboye who has been a member of the golf club since 2010.

The new Captains’ drive-in took place on 7th January and members came out in force to support. It was here that Phil and Jayne announced that the Captains’ Charity for 2024 is Sheffield Hospitals Charity.

Gentleman’s Captain of Hallamshire, Phil Rodrigo said:

“I have personally supported Sheffield Hospitals Charity for many years after seeing first-hand the care my mum received from staff at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals as she battled with Dementia. Hallamshire Golf Club have had a close association with the Charity for many years raising funds to enhance the incredible neurology and neurosciences work that takes place here in Sheffield. It was a natural step for myself and Jayne Conboye, Lady Captain, to support this worthwhile cause along with our Hallamshire members.”

Director of Fundraising at Sheffield Hospitals Charity Max Newton said:

“A huge thank you to Phil, Jayne and all the members at the Hallamshire Golf Club for choosing to make Sheffield Hospitals Charity their charity of the year for 2024. We really appreciate their ongoing support. I hope this new initiative brings birdies and eagles aplenty to everyone who plays the course to support Sheffield people who need the hospitals' leading neurology research and care.”
