When we launched our ‘Support your NHS appeal’ in March, we set out to stand with our local hospitals and do whatever we could to help patients and NHS staff during this time of real need.

Thanks to your amazing support, either by generously donating or fundraising at home, we’re proud to announce we are supporting Sheffield Teaching Hospitals' innovative new service to help patients stay in touch with loved ones whilst in hospital.

Whilst visiting restrictions are in place in hospitals to limit the spread of COVID-19, patients miss their loved ones more than ever. That’s why donations have been used to support a ‘Keeping in Touch’ service. Loved ones can send a photo and a message to a dedicated email inbox which will then be printed and delivered to the patient within 24 hours. They can then keep this at their bedside as a reminder of their family, friends or pets that care about them, boosting their mood during this difficult time.

Adrian Stone, Chairman of Sheffield Hospitals Charity, said:

"The charity is really pleased to be able to fund such an important and innovative service at what is undoubtedly a challenging time for so many patients and their loved ones. Being able to keep in touch is vital for patients and we are delighted that the trust has been able to launch this service. We have only been able to fund this as a result of the generosity of our supporters who are showing solidarity with the NHS at this time, and so our thanks go to all of you."

With your help we can continue to work with Sheffield Teaching Hospitals to identify the best ways that we can support patients and NHS staff. Never have we been prouder to be their charity.

But we still need your help. We want to continue to support our amazing hospitals and the staff working on the frontline throughout this time. As we all follow government guidance and take care of ourselves, NHS staff do not have that option. They are continuing to work to care for us, and so it is only right that we take care of them.

Please help us to do all that we can to support our hospitals and our remarkable NHS staff.
